New Horizons School is a private, bilingual educational institution in the heart of Olancho, which is the largest department in Honduras. In February of 1997, Centro Educativo Nuevos Horizontes (CENH) opened its doors and began serving the educational needs of San Francisco de la Paz with an inaugural enrollment of just 45 students. With much sacrifice and effort the school has been continually growing each year. At the beginning of the 2011 school year, CENH was pleased to announce the transition from a Spanish only curriculum to a bilingual program with the addition of three foreign faculty members. The faculty and ownership of New Horizons School is committed to the long term development of our students and adding English to the curriculum was an important step to ensure the success of our students after graduation.
Mission
Our mission is to maintain an educational institution that focuses on English language fluency, student creativity, national identity, and environmental awareness. In order to be successful in a globalized world, we need to encourage a generation of global citizens who have been exposed to the cross-cultural exchange that learning a language can provide. We envision a better Honduras fueled by a generation that is further equiped to integrate into the globalized, international environment. Education is the path to this vision.
Preschool
CENH is an institution dedicated to educating children in a natural and creative environment. Our preschool program is designed to stimulate and develop students morally and academically in a cheerful and affectionate environment with high expectations. What is most important is to leave a sentiment in the children that learning is fun and a necessary part of their future.
Primary
In primary school CENH maintains academic purpose coupled with ethical, religious, and civic elements that contribute to a learning environment conducive to allowing the student to define their goals and interests.
Secondary
In secondary school we polish our students academic skills focusing on science, technology, creativity, the formation of core values, environmental awareness, and most importantly national identity. It is our hope to deliver young adults into the world prepared to complete their goals and find their own way to happiness.
